The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) proposes to continue to operate the NSFNET Network Service Center(NNSC) for a period of 6 months.  The NNSC is operated through a subcontract with Bold, Beranek and Newman (BBN) who will continue to work with other agencies providing network information services to the Internet by providing unique  end-user services  for the NSFNET scientific and engineeering  community.  These  functions include services such as collecting,  maintaining, and  disseminating on-line information regarding Internet resources that are availbale via the network; operating  a telephone hotline service for users with a variety of questions usually of a non  techinical nature, and presenting short  courses, seminars, and  workshops in support of end-users.  The NNSC will also provide public information services which are focussed on the needs of NSFNET users and their technical support staff.  These include publishing newsletters and bulletins, managing and disseminating pertinent mailing lists, assisting authors in writing about NSFNET, and promulgating other promotional materials.
